How do I start meal planning?

Click on the “Begin Planning Now” button, answer a few questions about the food your family likes, and then choose to have Better At Home select your recipes and place them into your meal planning calendar. Or, if you prefer, you can browse recipes on your own and save them to a recipe box. Using recipes from your recipe box, you can build your own meal plan calendar.

Meal Plan Calendar

How do I add new meals?

First, browse recipes. Then, when you see one you like, click “Add To Meal Plan Calendar.”

How do I remove meals I am not interested in?

Click on the X next to the recipe name in your meal plan calendar. Or, click on the “Options” menu and select “Remove From My Meal Plan Calendar.”

How do I add a side dish?

Adding a side dish is the same as searching for a recipe. You can add up to four recipes per meal. Just click on the plus icon on the meal plan calendar, and select “Search for Recipes.”

How do I get more information on the recipe?

In the meal plan calendar, click the title or picture of the recipe for full details.

What are the thumbs-up/down buttons?

This function helps Better At Home choose future recipes tailored to your preferences. If you like a recipe, select the thumbs-up, and if you don’t select, thumbs-down.

What happens when I “Hide Breakfast or Brunch”?

All recipes in this category will be removed, and the meal category will visually minimize.

How do I leave a note?

In the meal menu, shown as a plus icon in the meal plan calendar, select “Add A Personal Note.”

How can I add my own recipes?

In the meal menu, shown as a plus icon in the meal plan calendar, select “Add Your Own Recipe.”

How do I add meals for next week?

Select the “Plan Future Meals” button to have Better At Home add meals that fits your preferences.

Recipe Box

How do I access my recipe box from the meal plan calendar?

Click the tab labeled “My Recipe Box” on the left-hand side of the page.

How do I use My Recipe Box?

Save recipes into your recipe box from Browse Recipes or from your meal plan calendar by choosing the “Add to My Recipe Box” link. You can also customize your recipe box in many ways, including folders and colors.

How do I save recipes to My Recipe Box?

When you see a recipe you like, click “Add To My Recipe Box” and it will automatically be saved to a folder in your Recipe Box.

How do I move a recipe on the meal plan calendar?

Click the top of the recipe and drag it to the meal you’d like.

Can I have more than one recipe per meal?

Yes, you can have up to four recipes per meal.

Why should I create an account?

It’s a good idea to create an account because it allows you to access your saved recipes and preferences, from anywhere at anytime.

How far in advance can I plan my meals?

You can plan as many meals as you like, up to one calendar year in advance.

Where do I find coupons?

Coupons can be found under the Saving Center in the top navigation.

Shopping List

How are ingredients sorted?

You can choose to have your shopping list sorted by grocery store section or by recipe.

Planned Preference

How do I change my preferences?

To do so, select the “My Plan Preferences” tab at the top of the page and indicate what you’d like to change. Just make sure to save these new preferences when you’re finished. Changes to your preferences will be incorporated into meals you plan in the future.
